Drop-in Crafts Friday, January 14th from 2:30-4:00 p.m.

Fight the winter blahs by dropping in to make some fairly simple crafts with your favorite grown-up.

We have 4 different crafts. How many crafts each participant may make depends on how many participants we have. (Supplies are limited, but it is likely that there are enough supplies for each child to make 2 crafts).

Are you a chess enthusiast in grade three through grade five? If you are, plan to attend the Beaverton City Library's monthly chess club for kids. Chess boards and sets will be provided. All you need to do is register by phoning (503)350-3600 or stopping by the Children's Desk on the first floor of the library to sign up in person. This is a great opportunity to improve your chess skills and make new friends. Chess Club meets on the third Saturday of the month from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. What Makes the Weather?

Are you curious about why the weather does what it does? Are you in grades 2 through 5? Then come to the Beaverton City Library on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and attend our "What Makes the Weather?" program. A meteorologist from the Portland office of the National Weather Service will be here to talk about the science of our local weather here in Oregon and do an experiment. And we'll have a weather craft for you to make and take home.

All Aboard for the Beaverton Modular Railroad Club

Calling model train enthusiasts of all ages! The Beaverton Modular Railroad Club will be visiting the Beaverton City Library on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Drop by the library and see the large model train display the club will have set up in Meeting Rooms A & B on the first floor of the library. New this year is a smaller model set with trains that kids can drive. Club members will be on hand to answer questions and share their knowledge of this fun hobby. Fall 2010 Program Schedule Is Now Available

Summer is slipping away. School starts in two weeks and fall will begin in a month. The Children's Divison Fall 2010 Program schedule is now available. We have several new clubs, including "Little Builders", a building club for ages 3 to 5 using Duplo blocks. "Paper Pals" is a new Friday afternoon club that features creative projects using paper. Old favorites are back including Read to the Dogs, Book Bunch, Book Buddies and Craft Club. There are several special programs in September too. Truck Day is back and the Oregon Symphony Orchestra will be performing a "Symphony Storytime". Please visit our Regular Monthly Programs Page for information about all our monthly clubs.
