August 10 = Last Chance to Pick up Summer Reading Prizes!

Summer Reading is winding down to a close.


This Wednesday, August 10th, is the last day that kids who have finished their 15 hours of reading can pick up their Summer Reading Prizes at the Beaverton Library and the Murray-Scholls Branch.


When you finish summer reading you'll receive a fun folder full of prize coupons AND you'll be able to pick out a brand new book to keep!


August 10 is also the day of our Oaks Park Party! Be sure to join in the fun!

Summer Reading Performance: BJ the Clown

Wednesday, July 27th

For all ages. Children under ten must be accompanied by an adult.

Come to the library to see comedy, magic, juggling, music, storytelling and puppets all with BJ the Clown as part of our Summer Reading Wednesday Performer program.
Come to to either show and prepare to laugh out loud!

No registration required. There is a limit of 300 at these performances.

Summer Reading Continues with Mr. Shoehorn

Mr. Shoehorn creates music with his feet and dances with his horn! Mixing tap-dancing with saxophone and other instruments, Shoehorn combines body rhythms, jazz and world music into an entertaining spectacle!

Remember to stop by the Beaverton City Library (or the Murray Scholls Branch) before Wednesday, August 10th to pick up your prizes! When you complete your 15 hours of reading you will receive a prize folder filled with:

"One World, Many Stories", Summer Reading 2011




"One World, Many Stories", Summer Reading 2011 begins
Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
You can register in person in the Children's area on the first floor of the library or online at www.beavertonlibrary.org/kids. Summer Reading is for all children, birth to those entering grade five in the fall of 2011. Read on your own or have someone read to you for 15 hours and collect prizes and a paperback book of your own. And be sure and check out our summer program schedule for fun things to do at the library over the summer. We hope to see you this summer at the Beaverton City Library!

End of Summer Reading Concert with Larry Wilder and The Stumptown Stars, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls. It's time to celebrate a great summer-full of reading here at the Beaverton City Library. Join us on the lawn in front of the library on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. for our End of Summer Reading Family Concert. Larry Wilder and the Stumptown Stars will be here performing some great cowboy tunes. So mosey on over and plan to spend the evening listening to some wonderful Americana roots music and singing along under the early evening sky. Be sure and wear your best cowboy and cowgirl outfits to the show. We look forward to seeing you there! A big thank you to the 4,363 kids who participated in this year's summer reading program at both Beaverton City Library Main and Murray Scholls.

Ronnie Robins Presents "Fun With Brazilian Music", Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.


Feel the Brazilian beat! Ronnie Robins will be here at the Beaverton City Library for two performances of his show "Fun with Brazilian Music". Ronnie will have the audience up and dancing to the sounds of the bossanova and the samba. Plan to fly on down to Rio on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.. "Fun with Brazilian Music" will be held in Meeting Rooms A & B on the first floor of the library. This event is for all ages, however, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. "Make A Splash, Read!" Summer Reading 2010

"Make A Splash, Read" Summer Reading 2010 begins Tuesday, June 1st and continues through Saturday, July 31, 2010.

You can register in person in the Children's area of Beaverton City Library Main or online. And once our new branch library at Murray Scholls opens, you will be able to register there too.

"Make A Splash, Read" is for all kids birth to those entering the fifth grade in September 2010. Read or have someone read to you for 15 hours and collect prizes, including a paperback book of your very own.

Summer Reading also means fun programs at the library. Please visit Kidzone for a list of all the events planned for this summer.

Everybody into the reading pool for a summer full of books and fun at the Beaverton City Library!

Beaverton Modular Railroad Club, August 15th and 16th, 2009

Calling all model train enthusiasts! Drop by the Beaverton City Library on Saturday, August 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 16th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to see the fabulous model train display set up by the Beaverton Modular Railroad Club. Members of the club will be here to answer questions and let you take a close look at their model train display. This program is for train lovers of all ages. GW

End of Summer Reading Concert, Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

Captain Bogg and Salty perform at our End of Summer Reading Concert on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. on the lawn in front of the library. Celebrate all the reading Beaverton kids have done over the summer by singing and dancing along with the Captain. Don't forget to wear your best pirate outfit. Bring blankets and sand chairs and plan to rock the library as the Captain and his crew sing their favorite pirate songs. This program is for all ages. Don't be a landlubber! Set sail for the library and enjoy some"Pirate Rock for the Whole Family." GW

Calling all clowns! B. J. is back for a return visit to the Beaverton City Library. He will perform two shows on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. His first show is at 12:30 p.m. and his second show is at 2:00 p.m.

Come help us celebrate the release of the 42nd Magic Tree House book, "A Good Night for Ghosts." All Magic Tree House enthusiasts are welcome to join us for crafts, activities and trivia inspired by Jack and Annie. This program is for ages five to eight and an accompanying adult.

Musician Rich Glauber returns to the Beaverton City Library on Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Rich will perform two shows, one at 12:30 p.m. and a repeat show at 2:00 p.m. The performance will feature songs, creative movement and stories in both English and Spanish. "You Be the Star" Program

There is still space available in our "You Be the Star" Program. Children will create puppets and then make them come to life during a special performance. You must register and attend all four sessions on the following Mondays: June 29, July 6, July 13 and July 20, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can register in person at the Children's Desk on the first floor of the library or by calling (503)350-3600.
