Ever blow bubbles on a hot day? Or blow into your straw to make bubbles in your drink? What are your feelings about bubble baths? I have always loved bubbles, but after readings Bubble Homes and Fish Farts I feel as if I've taken them for granted. This book is beautifully illustrated and tells all about how many different animals make and use bubbles every day. Each two pages spread has a large illustration and just a simple paragraph about the animal features, (common AND scientific name) and especial how they use bubbles.
From this book I learned that the water shrew can actually use the little hairs on its feet to run on the bubbles in lakes and ponds. How cool is that?
I also learned that fish don't actually fart: they excrete air from their backside in "Fast, Repetitive Ticks" (that's right-- FaRTs) which may be a form of communication between the herring.
Check the catalogue for this title.
Check out other books about animals in the 590’s! Keep your eyes out for bubbles! -J-
